Police fire tear gas at protesters in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Police and angry protesters clashed on the main Kohat Road in Peshawar on Monday, according to a DawnNews report.

Earlier, locals held a demonstration against the excessive amount of load shedding in the city.

The protestors blocked the main road by burning tires and chanted slogans against the government and demanded the reduction of load shedding.

The closure of the road caused a massive traffic jam and when protestors refused to disperse, the local police was called in to handle the situation.

In an attempt to disperse the angry mob, the police fired tear gas shells at the demonstrators.

Although the demonstration ultimately dispersed, locals said they will continue to protest until the issue is resolved.
