
Race winners will earn 25 points instead of 10 and the top 10 will all be receiving points instead of eight.
The change, which was proposed by the F1 Commission and ratified by FIA on Friday, is to accommodate the three extra teams on the grid.
Second-place drivers will earn 20 points, and then it will go 15, 10, 8, 6, 5, 3, 2 and 1. This year, it went 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1.
On the other hand, Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina circuit will host the final grand prix of the 2010 Formula One season after the International Automobile Federation (FIA) announced a change to their race schedule.
A provisional calendar had listed Abu Dhabi as the penultimate race before Brazil, but the sport’s governing body decided to give the United Arab Emirates capital the Nov 14 season finale, after the Brazilian Grand Prix on Nov 7.
The season begins with the Bahrain Grand Prix on March 14.
Formula One will have four new teams next year after the withdrawal of Toyota and BMW, whose team will continue as Sauber.—Reuters
